Ballmann Earthworks began as a dream for a very young entrepreneur. As a fifth grader at St. Vincent de Paul grade school in Dutzow, MO, Jon Ballmann was asked what he wanted to be when he grew up. At that point, Jon began dreaming and devising a plan to develop his own business. His dream of becoming a civil engineer and owning his own business is now a reality.

Jon actually began digging in the dirt before he could walk. He still owns his first Tonka Dump Truck and Excavator and has even restored his original John Deere pedal tractor. He was fortunate to grow up around entrepreneurship through a small family rental development and through friends as dairy farming neighbors.  His love for large equipment has always attracted him to this type of work.

After graduating from St. Francis Borgia High School, Jon attended college at Missouri University of Science & Technology.  Jon purchased his first machine while in college, a New Holland LS160 rubber tire skid steer. He would come home on the weekends and do odd jobs for friends and family. Soon the word spread, and the referrals started trickling in.   After graduating with a civil engineering degree, Jon went to work for Andrew Stegmann Inc.

In 2007, Jon made the decision to venture out on his own, and officially launched Ballmann Earthworks. We began as a local contractor with a focus on site development, excavation, and grading services based in Augusta, MO. Over time, our dedication to quality work, practical solutions, and reliability has led to a strong group of loyal clients.

Ballmann Earthworks has experienced a remarkable surge in growth. What originated as a modest venture has transformed into a formidable, exceptional industrial construction firm with a presence across public, commercial, heavy highway, residential, and industrial domains. Our portfolio of services continues to diversify, all while upholding the foundational principles of a small business—respectful client interactions, personalized attention, unwavering dedication, reliability, and the cultivation of trust.

At the core of our success is a dedicated team, who we consider an extended family. We take immense pride in boasting of the finest laborers and skilled heavy equipment operators in the Midwest. Our workforce has decades of hands-on experience in complex heavy highways and commercial projects. Through rigorous training, expert knowledge, and an unyielding commitment to safety protocols, our sole focus remains on realizing our clients' projects and ensuring their satisfaction—from initial design and value engineering to seamless execution and adhering to schedules. Additionally, we maintain and manage our own equipment, effectively reducing costs, minimizing time investments, and elevating on-site safety standards.
